BMC’s King Edward Memorial (KEM) Hospital have proudly started a new modular Ophthalmology Operation Theatre today.

Under the guidance of Municipal Commissioner & Administator Shri Bhushan Gagrani and Additional Municipal Commissioner (Projects) Shri Abhijeet Bangar, this facility has been started now.

The facility was made operational at the hands of Dr. Rumi Jehangir, the former Professor and Head of Unit of the KEM Ophthalmology Department at Seth GSMC & KEM Hospital. Dean Dr. Sangeeta Ravat , Dr. Avinash Ingole & concerned doctors, staff were present at the occasion.

The facility is equipped with advanced technology and a modular setup featuring laminar air flow, significantly enhancing the quality of ophthalmological care and improving surgical outcomes.

With this new theatre, KEM hospital is now capable of performing cataract, glaucoma, squint, retina, cornea, and pediatric surgeries, all conducted by highly experienced surgeons.

Additionally, the installation of a high-speed, fully automated autoclave machine for sterilization, generously donated by the ‘Sanyog Trust,’ will increase hospital’s surgical capacity and further support patient care.
