The bond you two share and know is the life force behind his healing. I would bet you that somebody bought buddy when he was a little little guy in the palm of their hand but as he got bigger and required different Care and More Care and More expense, the person thought he could just let it go outside and you know nature will take care of him or maybe somebody finds him. The sad truth is he would have never survived a cold fall or winter. I think you were a blessing for him and I think he's a blessing for you because of the wrong you share from having saved him as well as the love he gets from you everyday! I believe he loves and treasures you and might even look to you as a parent figure or at least head of the Lizard University where he teaches others iguanas how to snag a banana and how to steal as many Strawberries you can before he comes back to the room!! He is really a treasure and I think the love between the two of you is very inspirational!😊 I bet that not only did he inspire you in various ways but I'm sure he has a fan club or two of all the people that share your stories about Buddy! You bring a lot of joy to others, probably way more than you even know! Thank you for brightening our days and making us feel a little better about things having watched the loving interaction between the two of you! God bless you and watch over all of your family, especially the green ones!! Happy holidays to you and yours,! Maybe Santa will leave Buddy a bunch of bananas, all for him!!! Wow( Best Christmas ever!!). ❤️ Thanks for sharing your must special bond with Buddy! But your dog, the lab, is getting older and I could see that in a recent video. That can happen when they're older. I have a stray cat that I rescued one cold winter morning and no one ever looked for him or put up any signs or anything in the paper so I put up a few signs and a little message in the paper but no response! I call you Charlie! I have had him now for about 12: or 14 years and we have that extra special bond which I think was born out of his appreciation for letting him in and caring for him through the cold winter and then all the years to follow! I really think animals know when you have saved them or kept them from a certain fate! So here's to you and all other animal rescuers that take in the strays, take care of the injured bird, lizard, cat, dog, etc ,etc. the little guy was lucky your dog knew to bring him to you. Actually, it's really amazing that your dog somehow communicated with the lizard that "I'm not here to bite your hurt you I just want to take you over to my dad and see if he can help you!" I think at that point that whole lizard was so weak and so ill that you probably thought he wouldn't even make it, but your kindness, live and determination is what saved him. You have a beautiful, loving heart and as I said in one of the many replies to you, my mom, I was born and raised in austria, always had this saying that: "if you take care of God's creatures, God will take care of you!"....
I remember that moment so clearly, though I was only like 12 years old at the time! But throughout our childhood, we all watched our mom care and cure for one animal after the other. It was never a burden. She taught us to love and respect all animals not just the domesticated ones. She taught us how to read an animal for fear, safety and the flip side, loving it unconditionally, making the animals feel safe and making sure the ones going downhill would get extra time & attention until the behavior changed from looking to check out of this cruel world to: one of trust, love acceptance, kindness, lots of food in a warm safe place without cats, people screaming and scaring them fearful of what each day may bring...to a major blessing of turning the situation around so love would not only prevail but the loving care& attention shown to Buddy allowed him to risk trusting again.....
...Except this time! He was found by a big dog who gently carried it in his mouth to his human Dad, hoping he could save him....
And he did! But you two are so bonded now , I think he should be with you always. If you feel he's lonely then you can always get a lizard of the opposite sex so hopefully they can Bond and perhaps even have some little lizards! I think with backup, Buddy would make a good part of the team! He'd collect them and you can fix them & return them to nature if they're able whether it's foraging for food or having to fight over territory aggression, things like that. I'm glad that won't be an issue for him and that he was lucky enough to find a kind loving person who will take care of him forever! And I would venture a guess to say that at the time the dog brought you Buddy, you were going through some difficult and upsetting things. I believe buddy helped get you through that when your focus was to make sure he would be well and not only survive but to thrive! And I think his mannerisms and antics probably brought you many smiles and a lot of comfort as the two of you not only enjoyed each other's company but at that exact same time, whether you knew it or not, you were growing closer and end it up very bonded to one another with pure, unconditional love! Happy holidays and may God continue to bless you and watch over you and your family. Thanks for the joy you bring to many through the videos of Buddy! Don't despair, he may offer you the chance to share a banana with him?!! I'm sure he'd be happy to do so! Just know he'll prepare the banana so he can share it with you one day. Just don't ask him why his piece is about 3/4's of the entire banana and your piece is about the size of a big bite or two little ones!!!
