Stay tuned for the entire build series to get this thing back to life!

Several months back, ā€Ŗ@ScannerDannerā€¬ reached out to me regarding the 1972 413 Wedge that he has in his 1978 Dodge Power Wagon... his initial diagnosis indicated a failed flat tappet lifter. According to the previous owner, the engine had been recently (within the last 10 years) rebuilt, but Paul had his suspicions that might not have been the case...

SCANNER DANNER makes me so happy. Iā€™ve learned so much from him that isnā€™t just car related.

I built a 413 Chrysler industrial engine for my 1951 Flxible X-ray Clipper bus/RV. Hardened valve seats, sodium filled exhaust valves, forged crankshaft and pistons. Hell of an engine!

Don't they say high zinc oil has to be used with that type of cam follower?

I hate flats. So common for things to fail catastrophically. Modern oil isn't too great for them either.

413s last year was 1978 but this looks way different than pop's 1971 413 Max Wedge

Be careful on those big block mopars. The oil galley for lifters is really big and with any lifter bore wear they bleed off a lot of oil and the one galley feeds the main bearings
