Complete bullshit. Volts and current aren't phases just randomly like that. Voltage pushes current. Current is the beans, and voltage is how those beans are able to go through materials of different resistance.

Higher voltage would be even better, but 48 volts is about the maximum voltage that is still safe for humans to work with. Much higher and you would be electrocuting the good folks that are working on your car, and good mechanics are hard to find.

If you want to reduce heating, you can just increase the amount of copper.
48V CAN have less heat OR it can use less copper. (or some combination)
In all likelyhood though, they will just decrease the amount of copper so the temperature of the wire doesn't change.

Calling it "Voltage Phase" and "Current Phase" seems really weird to me - That implies there is a phase where either of them isnt "active", but thats not the case...both exist at all times - The power transmitted is just the combination of the two. Is you want power to stay the same - you can raise voltage and lower current, which makes sense for transmission, but also kills circuits and you need more insulators - Or you can raise current and lower voltage, but then you need more copper or it gets hotter
