Unfortunately for homeowners, this tax liability is fixed while your income is not. You’re on the hook every year to pay your city’s school districts, pot holes infrastructure, fire rescue, public safety, and of course the bosses big fat pay raises.
Property tax rates should be fixed and capped. Homeowners should be able to keep and transfer their tax rate to any new property they purchase. I’m sure the government can find alternative ways to fund their municipal budgets.
