They had no right to detain him....exiting your car is not a crime.

Why is exiting a car wrong? I see cops telling people to get back into the car, all the time. Do they fear that he will abandon the car and flee on foot? Don't they think that he might drive away if he is left in the car?
I also don't understand why an arrest must involve putting someone in handcuffs. It's absolutely unnecessary especially with non-violent people being arrested for simple traffic violations. It seems the law is designed to humiliate and demean people.
