The Issue with 5 hard working sets is after the 3rd one there is pretty much no stimulus and just fatigue,so if your goal is hypertrophy 1-3 hard sets Will be the best depending on Many factors.For strenght,I would say 5 X 5 is fine if not all sets are close to failure

I do 5x5s on RDLs and it works great for me. For pullups, I do 5 standard hypertrophy sets of going to near-failure.

Trying to find the happy medium of progressive overload and still building strength with 5x5. Still only at about 25% of my body weight on the weighted pull up. I do weighted calisthenics once a week for about 4 months now

So 5*5 includes the warm up? And does this apply to weight lifting as well? When I do pull ups I do 4*6 for each variation including the latest Gironda pull u showed recently which is amazing (less pain in my biceps)

How much resting between sets?
2 years of lifting looking for hypertrophy.

I heard that 30 secs is fine even if you get failure on 3 then 2 then 1 rep cause you want to get to failure?

I'm trying that this month.

do u have to leave reps in reserve for it to work? cuz idk how 5x5 works if you go to failure on most if not all sets and not fatigue due to the excess volume. I've never tried it but it just seems like junk volume to me. Can someone please tell me why I'm right or wrong?
