It's sad that a lot of today's drivers have been sold a false bill of goods that these new computer controlled throwaway trucks are the best thing around when all they are is a $200,000 rolling headache. When I started driving in '04 I was operating trucks from the '90s. The worst problems I had were tire issues and one time u-joints. After that I had an older auto shift transmission problem. Something that doesn't happen with a manual. I've also had a few turbos blow up and that can happen to any truck. At that point I thought I'd seen some bad breakdowns... Then I got into a def truck. I've never been broken down so often. As a solution the company I worked for had a delete done and the downtime stopped... For awhile. Enter the electrical gremlins. When you have everything computerized a bad ground can stop your truck dead. That company soon sold that truck and I moved on to other things because all the other trucks in the fleet had their own issues. The next company was the same way with the same problems. I got away from trucking after that but I still love to drive. If I get back into a truck it will be my own, paid for, mechanical truck from the '80s. Fuck truck payments, fuck def, fuck emissions and fuck California!

A semi truck lost its wheel in Atlanta on the nine lane full of traffic I hit it perfectly with my 85’ Buick Royal it rolled under me lifting my car the height of the wheel 🛞 jumping it 5 1/2’ feet in the air riding it like a rainbow bridge landing perfect between the lines and didn’t even bottom out landed on all fours. For me it was amazing and unbelievable, as it could’ve been a horrendous accident. Unfortunately though for every single car behind me it was not so amazing.. tire bounced up landed on his hood then he pulled the wheel crashed into them; then they into them and so on. But, you can bet yer ass whoever got to watch what I did from the side, still tells that story to this day. It shouldn’t have been possible

No offense, but I'm betting the instrumentation and other warning systems on the truck had been showing you that there was a problem long before the 30 second warning to shut down.
What did you do when you got those? Just kept driving?

I was driving a work truck only weighing about 6 tons and the engine quit without warning while rolling down a residential street at 15 mph or so. I was on a straight stretch of street with nothing in front of me. Power steering stopped working, as did the power brakes. The emergency brake worked as normal, and non power steering still worked to keep driving straight ahead.
All in all, would not recommend 😂 driving without a working engine if you care about safety of yourself and other
