Setting big goals can be intimidating.

It's tough enough to figure out a goal that's within our zone of commitment (beyond what we know is probable but not past that line of possibility), but once we have picked a target, the sheer magnitude of the endeavor can be overwhelming.

Here's a little tip to help reduce some of the anxiety around aiming for your next big goal: Set it, and forget it.

Once you have established your ambitious goal, take time to outline the steps you will need to take to get there.

Then forget about the goal itself and focus only on the next step.

This technique allows us to take away some of the power the looming, audacious goal has over us and keep our attention on the easier-to-achieve, small step that needs to be performed.

Chunking your goals down into these small, achievable milestones and focusing only on the next one in our journey is not only the only real mechanism to success, but it reduces the fear factor associated with the larger goal itself.
