I ran a research and development group at an advanced materials company in New Hampshire. Out of the seven people in my group five of them owned Subarus. Three of them developed engine trouble around 100k. The response from Subaru corporate was so awful that I never bought another Outback. They actually blamed me for using 5W-30 despite the engine oil cap specifically saying to use 5W-30.

Unfortunately many auto manufactures only offer SUVs in America and not wagons. Even the Toyota Corolla wagon offered in Europe countries but not USA. Instead we get the Corolla Cross
