Kids, young adults or even middle aged adults just want to hear a humble apology and ownership of the mistakes. If you can forgive yourself, drop the ego that will drop the pride they will eventually come closer. It’s a process and takes time. Have patience. You can’t expect them to jump for joy immediately. But doing that and making consistent effort is all you can do. Saying this because I was that kid. Peace be with you 🙏🏻

I feel yes in just as far as you can forgive yourself. However what you do or have done and those affects on people cant just be absolve just because you forgive yourself. I believe if you've hurt someone directly because of your actions you owe it to them and yourself to at the very least have a real hard look at yourself and address whatever wrongs. You did.

You can ask for forgiveness when you think you are worthy of forgiveness, and they can give forgiveness only when THEY have worked to heal enough TO give forgiveness.
"Forgive us our trespasses,
as we forgive those who trespass against us" it ain't no joke, it takes as much to forgive as to be forgiven.

The lord says, it is for them and the lord to forgive. People who forgive themselves tend to be selfish and are not phased by their actions towards others. Listen to how these people describe forgiving their own actions... dont forgive yourself, accept your wrong doing and always remember to be better than that action.

Accepting your responsibility is not the same as forgiving yourself.
