In the second situation, your king doesn't have to move in b6, just move to d7, therefore the only move for black is king a7, move your king to c7, and your pawn is safe to be promoted.

Just for interesting info, the position after you play a7 is still a winning position. You have to keep your king near c6 or a6 and when opponent plays kb7, promote, they take and after you play ka6 or kc6 youβre winning because wherever the black king goes you push b7 and black is in zugzwang.
And also you donβt really need to sac pawn on a7 after you played b7, you can just play waiting move around the c7 square with the king like kd6 or kd7.
