Every slide is a late slide at this point. I agree, a QB who takes of running should be treated as a RB. However, I don't think Lawrence slid late or that Azzez couldn't make a quick adjustment and minimize the impact...

I’m with this guy qbs can’t run the ball and then just slide when they’re gonna get hit to draw a flag. Look at mahomes he uses it to his advantage all the time runs the side line and if they commit to the hit he goes outa bounds and draws the flag but if they don’t he just keep running

Preach!! The NFL needs to get rid of that penalty. When the QB leaves the security of the pocket they should be fair game like any ball carrier.
Being allowed to slide two steps before the defender makes contact in order to draw a penalty just encourages them to put their own safety at risk for extra yards.

Get rid of sliding. QBs should not get special rules. They should be treated like any other player on the field.

Yeah so true I didn't think about that. I forgot because he's a quarterback that when you take off with the football you're a runner. So you get treated just like every other one so why is it any different from you getting hit than a running back getting hit?

But the thing is why is the defender hitting a qb that low at his knees. Is he scared of him. Think about it. Qb is gonna slide late early or on time. The defender should be targeting the upper half of the qb body.

I agree with him totally because that’s why everyone is so afraid to tackle Mahomes. If he desires to run then he is no longer a quarterback he’s a runner
