I started with JavaScript and HTML, never really learned HTML in depth. Then I went on and learned C# as my first programming language that I actually went past the basics with, I worked on personal projects with that for a good 7 years, then during that time I went back to JavaScript after learning C#. It was so much easier to pick up after I had already gotten comfortable in C#. Then I learned some Java, and currently Iβm learning Python and SQL. So glad I dove into the deep end when it came to programming, really strengthened my skills as a programmer.

I started with C++. This was the hardest thing I ever learned in my life!!! Spent every day at the library during summer break, from morning till night. Made me want to give up on programming from time to time due to its difficulty. Though, after sticking to it until I mastered it. All the other languages were a piece of cake to understand, even on a behind the scenes level. It payed off exceptionally well!

C# is a great language to start with imo.
Sure, there may be a learning curve if you're a complete beginner or you're inexperienced with OOP, but it's honestly not all that different from learning a more "beginner friendly" language, not to mention how it might help in the long run if you decide to move on to a different language. Knowing C# makes it way easier to migrate to Java (or any other OOP-based language), and the syntax is incredibly similar to other popular languages which you might wanna try out in the future, as opposed to Python.
Oh, and to the people in the comments going "Python isn't a "real" language", there's no point in trying to gatekeep programming.
In summary: Learn the language that's most useful and most fun to you. Don't listen to some random guy on YouTube saying it's "too hard" or "too easy".

the difficulty might be higher but the pay off of understanding the lower level hardware and how they have influenced other languages are amazing. I can pick up and other coding language and understand a majority of them within a couple of days, switching from python to c++ would be a lot more difficult. C++ was my first language, and I have no regrets.

People who learned C/C++ in their early days will be able to pick up and understand other languages faster than any noob who starts with python
