This video is a part of Insurance Angels Classic Series wherein we are re-uploading some old cases which were resolved in favor of the victimized customer and the mis-sold policies were cancelled and amount was refunded to the victims post intervention of Insurance Angels and highlighting the case to appropriate authorities.

Case Summary

This case has an intriguing backstory. This was most likely the first case that was resolved without the customer even filing a written complaint.

As soon as we posted Tukaram Ji's video message on YouTube explaining how he was duped by ICICI Bank and ICICI Prudential employees, Tukaram Ji was approached by an ICICI Prudential Grievance Redressal officer who asked him to remove his video from YouTube and offered him a cancellation of his policy and a refund of his premiums with interest.

We removed Tukaram's video from YouTube at his request, and a few days later, Tukaram Ji called us again to let us know that the money had been deposited into his bank account and that we could re-publish his video message on YouTube.

He even agreed to provide a new video explaining how he was made to run from pillar to post by ICICI officials to get his policy cancelled and still failed, and how the company now came forward on its own to process the cancellation of policy and refund the premium along with interest.

We had, in fact, caused the company to make a complete 180-degree turn.

This is why it is said that God is Great and that he has planned everything for each of us and that all we have to do is follow his instructions and the rest will take care of itself.

Tukaram Ji's complaint in summary:

Gyanu Shankar Khilari, Tukaram's grandpa, had a crop insurance policy, and the funds of the claim were credited to his account.

When Tukaram and his grandfather went to the bank to withdraw the crop insurance claim, the manager of ICICI Bank asked them to invest a portion of the claim money in Tukaram's life insurance policy.

Tukaram and his grandfather did not wanted or needed the policy, but they had no choice but to follow the wishes of ICICI Bank's manager.

They were forced to invest Rs. 35000.00 and were told that it was a one-time investment. However, this amount of Rs.35000.00 was later withdrawn from their account for two years in a row, despite their repeated protestations, and they received no relief.

Tukaram was a student at Shivaji University in Kolhapur in 2016 when he was issued a regular premium insurance policy number XXXX6353 with annual premium requirements of Rs. 35000.00, and Tukaram was described in the policy as a farmer earning 5 lakh rupees per annum.

As previous stated, Tukaram was a student at Shivaji University in Kolhapur, and his family's name was enrolled in the Maharashtra Government's BPL registration with serial number XXXXXXXX2622.

Tukaram's family had been suffering in silence since 2016, until they found us on the internet, and we assisted them in voicing their concerns on our YouTube Channel in July 2020, when their voice was finally heard, and the company agreed to cancel the mis-sold policy and process a refund with interest to Tukaram’s account in August 2020.
