As a Doberman mom Iām crossing fingers for this baby, theyāre such gentle and loving yet anxious breed and need a lot of work on confidence and lots of reassurance from the owner. My 3yo boy is so gentle with kids and all animals but it took hard for him to be confident in crowded places. He traveled with me to 11 countries, heās socialised and yet heās sometimes heās scared of the rain falling on his butt š«£

Thank you for saying not aggressive. People think my pittie is aggressive but sheās exactly like you said, anxious and fearful. I am using your training tactics and sheās doing better day by day I just need to be patient with her. She literally loves people and dogs she just gets caught up in her anxiety.

Yep, that's like my dog. He has a neurological disorder (medicated) causing extreme anxiety and his puppyhood household accidentally over-socialized him, which led to him learning the same lesson. My dog was rehomed to me at less than 2 years old, which I understand because the family had a young child the dog ended up biting. I wish these owners luck! At 10 years old, my dog is almost like a normal (anxious) dog on most days; I just need to be aware of our surroundings and take control before he tries to.

working dog's need a lot of direction,,,, but a well bread dog for temperament,,, an all round ability,, from being an awesome pet with low level training,, too the same dog,, trained by a handler, asking protection ability to high level schutzen training comes down to well bread dog's for health an ability is getting harder to find with all 52 deck.... i have been breeding working line german shepherd's for over 30yrs an u only know after the dogs are 14 to 17mths if u have a true breeding dog,, male or female ,, an then u have own or know wen the dog dies,, from old age or some type of cancer ,,,, it takes a life time an genetics just get weeker ,,, including wot we feed them.... anxiety an other dispositions are all around yrs of genetic breeding...... no fear is the best trait to start with,, the health follows suit....

Similar situation with a large dog I walk; heās not aggressive but nips me when I leave his house. Heās 16 months and 50kg. He wears a muzzle and lead on walks. You can probably guess the breed. Heās getting better but Iām at a bit of a loss how to work this problem in the house when heās not muzzled.

Love the statement āleadership is loveā. I thought allowing my dog to run free at a certain point on the trails where I walk daily was giving him freedom. Whereas when I put the lead on him as we were approaching the parking lot, I can see a sense of relief in him.
