CCO005 ☆ JIALING & FARSIGHT – WHISTLE TIP
4 videos • 31 views • by Clasico Records Baltimore meets the Bay as Clasico steps into Autumn with four tracks of collaborative club heat from JIALING and Farsight. Fans of the label will already know JIALING from ‘FREAKY HORNS’, this Summer’s all-conquering manifesto for a new era of Baltimore club music that’s been in countless DJs’ crates and crowned “the sound of the Summer” by RA. Farsight meanwhile has been Clasico extended family since the start. Based in San Francisco but originally hailing from Oakland, he’s emerged in recent years as one of club music’s most exciting contemporary minds, recently releasing on Cloudcore, Scuffed Records, Rinse and Dusky’s 13 Steps label. The pair played an extended back-to-back at Clasico and No Bias’s takeover of London’s Dalston Superstore last week, teeing up ‘WHISTLE TIP’ perfectly. Originally stemming from sessions that started two years ago, the EP’s title track sets pace with stuttered drums, chant vocals and — you guessed it — whistles, before ‘TWISTER’ comes through with big breaks and a flute line that we’ve had stuck in our heads since the first demos. Finally, ‘Spin City’ brings the rave pianos before Farsight’s stripped-back flip of ‘Whistle Tip’ closes the EP with skeletal drums and warped bass hits for the late night club rats.
