The suspect has been identified as an Army sergeant, and five soldiers were injured in the shooting. The shooting happened in the 2nd Armored Brigade Combat Team area, which is at a separate location from the main Fort Stewart area. The sprawling, roughly 280,000-acre base and Hunter Army Airfield complex includes a number of sites in Liberty and Bryan counties.
