Raye Concert - Live At The Fox Theater, Oakland, California, November 3, 2023 (My 21st Century Blues World Tour)

6 videos • 588 views • by Tim Bracken Raye plays live in concert at the Fox Theater in Oakland, California on November 3, 2023. The songs in this live concert playlist, shown in concert order, are Oscar Winning Tears, Better Things (acoustic), Change Your Mind (acoustic), The Weekend (acoustic), and Escapism. Raye is a British singer-songwriter from London who has received an Ivor Novello Award for Best Contemporary Song and a Brits Billion Award for over 1 billion digital streams in the UK. On March 2, 2024, Raye won six Brit Awards. This was the most wins in a single year by any artist, beating the previous record of four, held by Harry Styles (2023), Adele (2016) and Blur (1995). She also became the first woman to ever win the Songwriter of the Year award. Her other Brit Award wins were for Artist of the Year,  Album of the Year (My 21st Century Blues),  Song of the Year (Escapism), Best New Artist,  and  Best R&B Act. The triumph comes after years of frustration in which she was signed to a four-album deal with Polydor Records since 2014, and she prolifically wrote "albums on albums of music," but the label barely greenlit any of her music for release. In 2021, she publicly pleaded with Polydor to either release her music or release her from her contract. They parted ways later that year and Raye became an independent artist. This concert was one of the final nights of the North American leg of her My 21st Century Blues World Tour. Joining her onstage were Paul Murray (guitar), Liv Thompson (bass), Briana Washington (keyboards), Mike Lesirge (saxophone), Mike Cordone (trumpet), and Leonard Maddox Jr. (drums). =========================== Raye - M21CB Tour Dates (2023): Sept. 29 – Washington DC – 9:30 Club Oct. 1 – Philadelphia, PA – The Fillmore Oct. 3 – New York, NY – Terminal 5 Oct. 4 – Boston, MA – House of Blues Oct. 6 – Montreal, QC – MTELUS Oct. 7 – Toronto, ON – History Oct. 9 – Detroit, MI – Majestic Theatre Oct. 10 – Chicago, IL – Riviera Theatre Oct. 11 – St. Louis, MO – The Factory at The District Oct. 14 – Houston, TX – House Of Blues Oct. 15 – New Orleans, LA – Joy Theater Oct. 17 – Nashville, TN – Brooklyn Bowl Oct. 18 – Atlanta, GA – Eastern Oct. 19 – Raleigh, NC – The Ritz Oct. 21 – Newport, KY – MegaCorp Pavillion Oct. 22 – Columbus, OH – KEMBA! From the start, Raye relished being a maverick. Brought up in a musical household–her dad and grandad were songwriters and played in bands–Raye's tastes combined both the Ella Fitzgerald songs her mum used to play and the Rihanna and Drake bangers she got into as she got older. Growing up in a mixed race family (her mum is Ghanaian-Swiss and her dad English), it took a while to figure out her identity, both as a person and later as an artist. Raye bet on herself and has been a magnet for success; earning critical adoration from press all over the world, touring with Lewis Capaldi, Kali Uchis and SZA on sold out shows across North America, Europe and the UK and earning her first Top 10 slots at Pop and Rhythm radio in North America.
