Join us as we set out on our first long trip in the new adventure van "The Beast" and travel from Florida to the Grand Canyon and back. This trip, taken from the end of March to the end of April gave us the chance to experience so many unique and wonderful sites. We burn up at Organ Pipe Cactus National Monument and play in the snow (Kim's first) at the Bandera Volcano. We also pretend we are the Flintstones, see Cliff Dwellings, Pueblos, Meteor Craters, flying bats, a Petrified forest, Painted Desert, huge fields of lava, and so much more. The first four days are spent hoping from one state park to the next as we make our way to Texas where the really fun stuff begins. We have left out a few smaller videos that appear on the large 3 hour full length movie of this trip which we watch from time to time when we are feeling the call of the wilderness. As we discussed on our website https://freethemcgees.com we would love to be able to immerse ourselves in nature full time. Camping in the little SUV, (and now the van) feels more like home to us than our actual house. But with retirement at least another 13-15 years away, we try to get out and explore as much as possible while Kim's health holds up and we can still do the things that we hold most dear, which is spending time with each other hiking and exploring far away from the daily hustle and to and fro. We apologize for many of our newbie photography/videography mistakes and promise that as we get a little more practice under our belt (and the funds for some new equipment) our videos will improve. That said, we hope you enjoy seeing us in our true home.
