'Working Together for Waders' was hosted on Lusty Beg Island, Boa Island, Co. Fermanagh, and included an array of knowledgeable and experienced speakers regarding breeding wader conservation. LEWC hoped that this conference would open new cooperation and initiatives to kickstart the recovery of breeding waders in the wider countryside. LEWC and affiliated clubs have demonstrated that targeted intervention (often with limited budgets) can have positive impacts on breeding populations of species such as curlew, lapwing, redshank and snipe. These projects are grassroots initiatives, arising from within local communities and these successful partnerships have the potential to be replicated more widely. The agricultural and shooting communities working with respected scientific advisors, can help achieve breeding wader recovery in the farmed environment away from nature reserves. LEWC's is to inspire individuals and community groups to establish partnerships, akin to the success of the Lough Erne Landscape Partnership’s portfolio of projects, which have fostered the commitment and the capability to preserve and restore our local heritage. This event was supported by the Lough Erne Landscape Partnership with funding from the National Lottery Heritage Fund
