Veterinarians contribute to keeping EU food at a global gold standard by: - Advising & supporting farmers through the transfer of knowledge, skills, and competencies; - Enforcing legislation; - Applying innovation & effective technologies throughout food supply networks; - Providing scientific support to policy-decision-makers; Farmed animals maintain a circular flow of materials in agriculture by recycling the large amounts of inedible biomass generated as by-products while producing food for the human diet and many by-products serving a whole set of sectors. Livestock is optimally positioned to convert these materials back into the natural cycle and simultaneously produce high-quality food.
