Radagon: Blood & Heritage

3 videos • 46 views • by Elden Tales Ancestry (biological) is one’s historical evolution, based on bloodlines. It is important in figuring out details on diseases, genetic conditions; like the blood clots that form in the legs of the artificially created Albinaurics. Heritage (cultural) is a sort of inheritance from the ancestry. It is important in understanding cultural and social values, especially in bygone. Radagon carries heritage of the crucible, his hair being a key indicator. He wishes to become complete, just as the crucible is a primordial merging of life: the pull of meaning; that all things yearn eternally to converge (Law of Regression). Yet his transformation into Marika's mimic meant that a larval tear was used in an attempt to rebirth himself as a god (Marika the Eternal). Thus Radagon became a fusion of both the crucible (red) & larval tear (white). His use of the larval tear was passed down to his children who now carry genetics similar to Albinaurics, as well as the heritage of the crucible. The crucible is a source of creation outside of the purview of the Golden Order, therefore it is deemed chaotic by those within the order. It was once considered a signifier of the divine in ancient times, but is now increasingly disdained as an impurity as civilization has advanced. The crucible is symbolized by the color red: fire giants, forge of the northern mountaintops, Ordovis's greatsword, & omen blood. Red can be viewed as a symbol of sacrifice. While larval tears were a creation of the Eternal Cities in an attempt to form a lord. In that process the tears were used as a foundation to craft new life, like the Albinaurics. These artifical creations bleed white. White can be viewed as a symbol of purity, interestingly the description for the Albinauric Bloodclot states that "Albinaurics are lifeforms made by human hands. Thus, many believe them to live impure lives, untouched by the Erdtree's grace." It specifically mentions the term impure: meaning mixed with foreign matter, or morally wrong. This description is from the perspective of someone within the Golden Order; therefore it's biased & likely conjecture. The melding of this red (crucible) & white (larval tear) could represent the creation of the philosopher’s stone via the alchemical wedding of the Red King & White Queen. Miquella is a fusion of crucible heritage & larval tear genetics, red & white, king & queen, sacrifice & creation: the alchemical child (filius philosophorum).
