Time-Lapse Abstract Painting Videos by ᓚᘏᗢ
5 videos • 120 views • by ᓚᘏᗢ - Cat Purrs Art Works Time lapse videos of my abstract art process. Most videos are around 12 minutes and use real-time footage that I've sped up to make a time-lapse video with. My abstract paintings are very colorful, animated and full of life. My art process too is very lively and amusing, at least to me, and I'm hoping it will be entertaining for you to watch. I've tried to include some explanations of what I'm doing to make the videos informative and educational too. Abstract art comes easily to me, but I've heard other artists complain that they struggle to just let loose and express themselves with abstract art. Hopefully by showing you how I make my abstract paintings; you will feel inspired and motivated to make your own abstract art. I'm blessed to live somewhere beautiful and characterful, Cape Town in South Africa, and my joyful and colorful experiences here are reflected in my abstract expressionist paintings. I get to borrow a cute cockatiel called Middie from my landlady and she sits on my shoulder while I paint and listen to chilled beats. I live in the mountains near the ocean where I get to see sailing boats, surfers, swimmers, sea birds, naval ships, whales and penguins and dolphins. I regularly have baboons climbing all over the house and sitting in the garden grazing on the succulents. And lightbulbs. Sometimes baboons eat lightbulbs. I kid you not. I have watched them do it. I have geckos and spiders come into my home and the garden and sky are full of all sorts of amazing birds. I really am blessed with such a wide variety of sources of inspiration for my art. All of these natural wonders come out on my canvasses in abstract emotional responses to the world around me. I like to use acrylic paints from different manufacturers, and Winsor and Newton's water-soluble oil paints for my abstract paintings. I don't mix acrylic paint and oil paint, but rather will stick to one type of paint per canvas. I like to use wax crayons with the acrylic paints and oil pastels with the oil paints to create effects that I can't create with wet paint. I have in the past used glitter and gold foil in my abstract paintings and I might do so again in the future. I haven't decided if I want to do prints of these canvasses yet and I know the glitter and foil won't scan well so for now I'm erring on the side of caution and leaving out the shiny stuff from my paint palette.
