27 videos • 3,631 views • by Anthony Reichardt 6000 West Sunset Boulevard 6050 West Sunset Boulevard Hollywood, California In 1957, with the backing of Frank Sinatra and Bing Crosby, recording engineer Bill Putnam opened United Recording at 6050 Sunset Boulevard in Hollywood. Putnam then incorporated Western Recorders at 6000 Sunset Boulevard in 1961, thus the complex being known as United Western Recorders. In 1989, the studios were acquired by Allen Sides and renamed Ocean Way Recording. In 1999 Rick Adams purchased the 'Western' studios and renamed it Cello Studios. In January 2006 it was acquired by Doug Rogers and after two years of construction, it reopened as EastWest Studios. Today each studio now operates independently. EastWest Studios occupies the former Western Recorders and United Recording is still located at 6050 Sunset Boulevard.
