During this event, the ancestors of Azeroth are praised and honored by both the Horde and Alliance factions. In return, they reward players with a special title, "Elder |Name|", and a unique celebration in a place called Moonglade. The Lunar Festival also introduces a holiday currency, known as the Coin of Ancestry. Players can collect these coins and use them to purchase festive clothing, crafting patterns, and fireworks. The festival begins on February 3rd and concludes on February 17th at 10 AM (PST). This guide provides comprehensive information on how to acquire the Coin of Ancestry, the locations of all the Elders, the items you can purchase, achievements, and all other necessary details. In the 2024 edition of the Lunar Festival, a new feature has been added as a tribute to the Year of the Dragon. This includes an upgrade for your Winding Slitherdrake mount. The Winding Slitherdrake: Lunar Festival Armor gives your dragon mount a fearsome new helm and sharper claws. This upgrade is currently available from Lunar Festival Vendors for 50,000 coins. One of the main activities of the festival is honoring the elders. Finding and paying respects to an elder rewards you with 75 reputation points with all of your major city factions, and a Coin of Ancestry. This coin can then be used as currency to purchase festival-related items from the Festival Vendors. You will also receive a Lucky Red Envelope from each elder, which contains either a Lucky Rocket Cluster or an Elder's Moonstone. The Lucky Rocket Cluster can be fired from a cluster launcher to gain the Lunar Fortune buff. Players should note that recent expansions have added phasing to several zones. If you cannot see the Elder in the related zone, you would need to talk to Zidormi at specific locations mentioned in this guide. The Lunar Festival celebration takes place amongst the druids of Moonglade. Large festival camps are set up featuring fireworks launchers, festive lanterns, and exotic beams of light that can teleport players to capital cities. The Lunar Festival is a homage to the Chinese New Year celebration, often referred to as the Lunar New Year. During the Lunar Festival, players have the opportunity to visit ghostly Elders located throughout Azeroth and Northrend. By paying respects and honoring their ancestor's spirit, the Elder rewards the player with reputation points and a Coin of Ancestry. These coins can be used to purchase seasonal clothing and patterns from special vendors in Moonglade. These patterns teach skilled players to craft festival outfits or explosive new fireworks. Players are also tasked with defeating the corrupted demi-god Omen who lurks in the waters of Moonglade's Lake Elune'ara. When a player completes all of the holiday achievements specified by To Honor One's Elders, they are granted a player title - Elder Name. In 2018, four special transmog crowns were added to the festival - Crown of Good Fortune, Crown of Courage, Crown of Prosperity, Crown of Dark Blossoms. In 2019, seven new toys including Lunar Elder's Hearthstone were added. You can learn more about these additions in the Lunar Festival Guide.
