4 videos • 185 views • by That Time Punk Rocked Vroom are connected to a now defunct indie band based out of Lynchburg, Virginia and were originally comprised of members John Johnson, Tim Seay, Jim Kellaris and Nate Foutz. They released three albums and an EP during their tenure as a band between the late 90's and 2004. Their first album, "Things Not to Do" was recorded while the band members were in high school. Their sophmore and final full-length album was titled "Throws Like A Girl." They have two EP's, "Rosebud" and "A Five Song Demonstration." They had their sights set on pursuing a music career and, after taking a break from their studies at Liberty University, spent the next few years writing, recording and touring in support of their blend of melodic punk rock. After recording "Throws Like A Girl" the band attracted the attention from label execs from "Tooth & Nail Records," and they nearly signed a contract but decided it was against their best interests after speaking with "MxPx," who had recently left the small indie label after dispute with "T&N" CEO & Owner, Brandon Ebel. Shortly after Nate, the drummer, left the band in 2001 to join Good Charlotte for a brief stint on the road, but later returned to the band before they signed with the even smaller label "Decapolis." Tooth & Nail did release one of Vroom's demos they received from the band (Untitled (I Love You [You Can't Stand Me]) which can be found on the compilation album "I'm Your Biggest Fan Volume 2." The early 2000s they experimented with a different sound and a few different band member lineups. The lead singer John Johnson, eventually felt that his life was moving in a different direction than music and went to be a missionary in a third world country. The member's went their seprate ways but remain friends today!
