Apart from that it is also the highest free standing mountain in the world. Kilimanjaro is a dormant volcano with three three volcanic cones, "Kibo", "Mawenzi", and „Shira“. The highest point is located on Kibo - after the independence of Tanzania it was named Uhuru Peak in 1964 - which is Kiswhali and translates into „freedom Peak“.
