The Waste Transformers currently comprises of a passionate international team of 13 professionals, covering a wide range of expertise that includes technical biogas specialists, bio-chemical engineers, business developers, project managers and communication experts. The team has been successful in forging partnerships with A-brand names, such as IKEA and UEFA, and niche asset-based, finance fund managers such as Green Giraffe and Invest International. A Waste Transformer is a containerized biodigester designed to digest food waste on-site and produces multiple value streams. A Waste Transformer generates clean energy in the form of electricity, heat, or biogas, and this energy is channeled back to the same location where the food waste was generated. Moreover, the system utilizes the food waste to create a nutrient-rich natural fertilizer, which can be used on the same site to grow fresh food or shared with the local community to restore soil health. The system is easy to operate, is connected to the internet to let the service team in the Netherlands control the processes. The system, comprised of 20-foot shipping containers, is modular and adaptable based on the volume of food waste available.
