Just north of the station are crossovers allowing freight trains heading south to access the currently bi-directional relief line. Freight trains & on rare occasions passenger, can also leave the relief line to join the down (northbound, away from Sydney) main. The relief continues to Rhodes, the next station 2km north. Work has commenced to install a southbound relief/freight line requiring major reconstruction at the station.
