The series developed from collaboration between Richard Sherman, Professor of Flute at Michigan State University and Kathy Holcomb, owner of Absolute Gallery in Old Town. Professor Sherman envisioned bringing classical music closer to the community. In Holcomb’s Absolute Gallery he found the setting for his vision: an intimate, acoustically superior space that could be transformed from gallery to performance hall, to a gathering place for informal discussion. Holcomb shared his vision, eager to bring music and vitality to Old Town, Lansing. By 2017 the series had outgrown its original venue and settled into the newly opened UrbanBeat Events Center on Turner Street in Old Town. Learn more at absolutemusiclansing.org.
