Hot Tenting

I found out people do camp in the winter, but hating the cold and the snow, and not being able to afford a hot tent, I decided to make my own. Since then, I have made 3 hot tents. The original was made in November 2015 and is a tipi style tent with 9 steel poles. It's amazing but weighs a lot. As my passion is solo backcountry camping, I quickly realized I needed a lighter smaller tent that I could pull into a campsite in the backcountry by a pulk (toboggan or sled to use to carry gear/etc). So in November of 2017, I created my solo hot tent which is 15lbs and approx 8.5' squared. In November of 2019, I wanted a tent to take into the backcountry with a friend, or a few, and the solo was just too small, so I made what I call the bigger hot tent. It is approx 30lbs and is 10' x 14'. It's also awesome for car camping solo as it's spacious. In this playlist, you will find anything to do with any of the hot tents and 2 series on how I made them, one on the solo and one on the bigger hot tent.
