My favorite Groucho Marx songs
5 videos • 6 views • by I can't sleep, Mr. Noisy's sleep channel Here’s my favorite songs by the comedy legend, Groucho Marx. About Lydia the Tattooed Lady: Kermit the Frog sang it on the Muppet Show, and Elmo sang it at Jim Henson’s memorial service. Rowlf the Dog sang it on the Ol’ Brown Ears Is Back album, and my aunt and I sang along to that song on the radio using my Rowlf the Dog plush. About Tit-Willow: It was the cutest song I’ve heard, and I sang it using a bird in a cage for my practice for a show about birds. On the Muppet Show, Rowlf the Dog and Sam the Eagle sang it. My favorite part is when Sam kept saying “Willow, tit-willow, tit-willow.” as Rowlf is singing along. About Hooray for Captain Spaulding: The song wasn’t on the Muppet Show. It was used for one of my talent shows, when I produced a talent show of my aunt’s favorite book: “Horton Hatches The Egg.” For my show by my friends at my school, my teacher, Mrs. Carly provided narration, Charlotte was dressed as Maisy the lazy bird, Tracy, Stacy and Hailey played the three hunters, Jaqueline, Zoe, Emerson, Bella, Christopher, Tarah and Jasmine was dressed as the animals laughing at Horton sitting on the tree, all of my students from different classes was the people for the circus and I was dressed as Horton the Elephant. (I used a tiny elephant plush with butterfly wings, so to make sure it looks like an elephant bird.) The song was used whenever the hunters took Horton to a circus where they showed him to people at 10 cents: where they took him to Boston, Massachusetts, Kalamazoo, Michigan, Chicago, Illinois, Weehawken, New Jersey, Dayton, Ohio, Saint Paul, Minnesota, Wichita, Kansas, and to Drake, North Dakota. Horton sat on the egg for 51 weeks (which is almost a whole year), and his signature quote is: “I meant what I said, and I said what I meant. An elephant is faithful. One hundred per cent!” During the end of the story, Maisy the lazy bird rushes to the circus and sees Horton sitting on the egg in her nest. The egg starts moving, starting to hatch and then Horton ends up shouting “MY EGG, WHY IT’S HATCHING!!!” and then Maisy shouts “IT’S MY EGG! I WANT IT BACK! YOU STOLE IT FROM ME!!! GET OFF OF MY NEST AND GET OUT OF MY TREE!” Horton backs down with a sad, heavy heart. An elephant bird pops out of the egg, and Maisy is punished for her laziness by ending up with absolutely nothing. About Show Me A Rose: It was a sweet song I’ve listened to. Rowlf the Dog sang it on the Muppet Show, and it is so beautiful like King Gator singing his rendition of Let’s Make Music Together. On one of my talent shows, It plays at the end of the Horton Hatches the Egg story, when Horton takes the Elephant Bird back to his home. Let’s sing the songs together! Rest in peace to one of my aunt’s favorite comedy legends.
