Blues Piano Tutorial
14 videos • 27,920 views • by Walk That Bass There are heaps of 'how to play the blues' videos on Youtube, but I found a lot of them were not free. So I decided to make a series of lessons on how to play the blues which would freely available on YouTube. I also found that a lot of videos were quite basic, so I wanted these lessons to cover the basics but then go on to explain some more interesting, advanced and complex topics and ideas you can use in the blues. In these series of videos I go over how to play the blues on piano, though this is transferable to other instruments. The idea is to explain the basics and go right up to some more complex and advanced aspects of the blues so that after you watch this series of lessons you can quite competently tackle any blues song without sounding cliche and boring. In these videos I cover the following: - The basic 12 bar blues chord progression - Basslines you can use (in your left hand) - Scales you can use to improvise (NOT just the blues scale) - How to practice improvising - How to make your solo sound bluesy - Some riffs and licks you can use - Some alternate and more complex 12 bar blues chord progressions - Some non-12 bar blues chord progressions - Extending the Blues Scale - Sharp 9 Chords - Turnarounds Hope you enjoy them!
