Woodstockdale 1986 - The Home Movie (2007 re-edit)

13 videos • 739 views • by John Frame Woodstockdale 1986 is a home movie videotaped 13th December 1986 at Mark Stockdale's family property in Canungra, south east Queensland, Australia. It was an end of year picnic for a circle of friends from Brisbane's alternate music scene. The musicians played for mutual entertainment. Cameras were a Panasonic VHS and an AIWA Video8. The Panasonic was fixed to a tripod and the video fed to a Panasonic HiFi stereo VHS recorder - with audio simultaneously recorded from the Sennheiser MKE2002 binaural stereo mic system on the nearby dummy head (about 10m back from stage centre). Initial post-editing was by "insert editing" from VHS tape to the AIWA and the final video from the AIWA was manually synchronised with the audio from the VHS as they were dubbed to a Sharp HiFi VHS to make the "master". The master included 2nd, 3rd and 4th generation video. In 2007 I transferred the VHS master to DVD-R, and from there to PC and used Sony Vegas to fix all the synch errors. I put many hours into using CoolEdit to fix the hundreds of "VHS HiFi Stereo" system's audio glitches. The files uploaded to YouTube were mpg-2 PAL DVD quality and they've turned out quite well after their compression. The audio is perfect - please use "open" headphones to enjoy true surround sound - or use Dolby Pro-Logic for good surround effect from 5.1 speakers. This 2007 edit is the definitive version of a home movie which captures a special moment in time and in company with some of the most wonderful and talented people you could ever hope to meet.
