6 videos • 8 views • by MARSZ Flight “Potholes In Our Molecules” was the debut commercial release for Chicago MC Robust, following many mixtapes and collaborations as he made a name for himself in the late ‘90s and early 2000s hip-hop scene. “Potholes In Our Molecules” incorporates Chicago underground and abstract hip-hop styles, with an emphasis on the boom-bap sounds of the bass and snare drums, and serves as an audible testament to Robust’s musical prowess. Looking back on the album just after its 20th birthday, Robust told the Chicago Reader that “Potholes In Our Molecules” was “the start of what [he] wanted to accomplish” — and, to this day, people still approach him to express their love for the album. To honor 20 years of “Potholes,” Robust invites fans to celebrate at Reggie’s Rock Club on Saturday, March 2. It’s set to feature performances from Robust, plus his friends and collaborators Qwel, Defcee, Max Julian, IAMGAWD, Nightwalker, A.M. Early Morning, Dreas, Meaty Ogre and DJ Shazam Bangles. The show will commemorate both the anniversary of the album’s release and the MC’s expansive career.
