12 videos • 8,718 views • by Qualcomm At MWC 2021, Qualcomm demonstrates how we’re leading the 5G evolution into new industries and applications. What started as 5G connectivity for smartphones has now grown into new and expanded areas, taking a step closer to realizing the 5G vision of being the unified connectivity fabric that can connect virtually everything around us. Through our advanced 5G OTA networks and system simulations, we show that 5G can deliver high-performance connectivity for laptops and mobile devices, Boundless XR, smart factories of the future, smart vehicles that can enable full autonomous driving, as well as providing new services like precise positioning. Our advancements in 5G are reimagining connectivity and communications. Qualcomm showcases new and advanced 5G OTA testbeds at MWC 2021. As broader 5G deployment continues, incredible speeds from 5G mmWave coupled with the latest advancements in 5G massive MIMO will offer users high speeds and reliable low-latency connections anywhere. High performance 5G mmWave capabilities also lends itself to our growth in Boundless XR, where we showcase how our optimized end-to-end 5G mmWave OTA system supports multiple simultaneous VR users while reducing latency and enabling the future of human-machine interfaces. The strengthening of our wide-area 5G system foundation is showcased through five new demos, which include subband half-duplex, wide-area 5G positioning, cross-node machine learning, 5G NR-Light evolution with sidelink, and 5G device disaggregation – each designed to maximize performance and efficiency across larger areas. We continue to highlight how 5G enables new industry 4.0 efficiencies, with advancements in automation connectivity, sidelink capacity improvements, and indoor precise positioning pushing the boundaries of factory productivity. On top of this, our strength in mobile networks is also highlighted by our continued investment in greener networks, with 5G power optimizations and high-efficiency modulation schemes greatly reducing energy consumption while sustaining high performance. Automotive is yet another industry being redefined by 5G. For Qualcomm, the 5G V2X solutions within the Snapdragon Automotive Cockpit Platforms are merging automotive features of safety systems and driving experiences with 5G-connected communications technologies for low-latency collision avoidance, accurate, real-time road and mobility updates, and cloud-based integration with vital automotive electronics and security systems. All these technologies will enable the future of autonomous driving and 5G autonomous vehicles. Qualcomm is excited to demo these new transformative 5G technologies at MWC 2021. Increased 5G mmWave deployment with transformative use cases like boundless XR alongside other applications in wide-area 5G networks, green networks, 5G factories and industrial positioning, Wi-Fi indoor positioning, and advanced 5G automotive solutions with V2X are all giant steps in the ongoing 5G evolution to help people and industries connect, compute, and communicate.
