Analyzing Categorical Data

5 videos • 46 views • by Fourth Z Up to this point, the entire course has focused on analyzing data when the study includes a single quantitative response variable. For our final two topics we are going to switch to a categorical response variable. We are going to look at two sampling models: the model of independence (which we will study in the next video series) and the model of homogeneity (which we will study in this video series). By now it should come as no surprise that identifying the correct model is the first step in selecting the methods of analysis. We do this with quantitative response variables, as well, asking questions such as: how many samples do we have? Are the explanatory variables categorical, quantitative, or both? Are the responses completely independent, or are some responses correlated with other responses? For the model of homogeneity, the topic of this series, we compare multiple samples using a single categorical response variable.
