'Fire on The Mountain' - '74 Studio Demo - This early demo of 'Fire on the Mountain' is really fun and really funky. Shows the band doing what they did best: having a good time. Jerry's distorted guitar tone floats perfectly over the relentless groove. Maybe also be the first rap song? 'Eyes of the World' - Feb '78 - I love this version of this tune. You can just tell the band is feeling it. Everyone is in top shape throughout, Jerry especially. He's playing lead with the melodies of a songbird. It's gorgeous and mind bending. They get 5 minutes into the song before the singing even starts. 'Ship of Fools' 3/28/81 - An emotional, road-worn performance of one of the first Jerry tunes that really had a big impact on me at a young age. You can really hear the strife of the lyrical content in Jerry's vocal delivery. Payton's picks: "So Many Roads" - 7/9/95 Soldier Field- While this show has its ups and downs, Jerry's vocal delivery on this is outstanding, and the emotion is palpable. "Fire On the Mountain" - 5/8/77 Cornell- This solo is some of the most Jedi-level stuff Jerry ever did. The whole show is masterful, and this is certainly one of the hottest versions of this song. It shows how far we've come from Mickey's demo version. "Accidentally Like A Martyr" - Studio Outtake- The coolest part of this is the simplicity of this electric piano, vocal, and drum demo of Jerry covering one of Zevon's best. It's a gorgeous song, and Jerry's voice sounds great on it. "Morning Dew" - Europe '72- I've always loved this version of this song, but it's a lot cooler after hearing the story about the engineer walking out of the van while it was recording in Long Strange Trip. __
