3 videos • 18 views • by Delhi School of Excellence, Banjara Hills “There is enough on earth for everybody’s needs but not for everyone’s greed.” – Mahatma Gandhi Martyrs' Day in India, also known as Shaheed Diwas, was observed on January 30, 2024 in Delhi School of Excellence, Banjara Hills. This is the day the Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi was assassinated in 1948. The dignitaries paid floral tributes to Gandhiji and the students started the program by enacting the well-known quotes of the three monkeys of not seeing evil, neither hearing it nor speaking about it. The students gave heartfelt speeches and spoke about the importance of remembering the sacrifice by the martyrs – Gandhiji and Captain Vikram Batra during the Kargil War. They mellifluously sang patriotic songs, danced in perfect sync set to the evergreen and popular patriotic songs and also recited poetry exalting the virtues and legacy left behind by the great martyrs of India who made the supreme sacrifice of laying down their lives for the safety and peace of the country. The highlight of the program was a magnificent live art by students who drew the portraits of the martyrs. The audience enthusiastically participated in Martyrs Day Quiz. 2 minutes silence was observed as a mark of respect to the father of the nation. Principal Ms Veena Murthy appreciated the Social Studies department for the excellent program and advised students to remember the great heroes of the country and to follow in their footsteps of serving the nation.
