Core journals are thicker journals (generally around 300-400 pages) and are designed for the student to choose what they want to learn about. They gather materials (such as library books) and fill the journals in with all the exciting information they are learning about! Some of the Core Journals have themes, such as Sharks, Oceans, Cooking etc. where a student will hone in on more on a specific topic while covering a range of subjects. Other Core Journals are more generic, leaving it completely open ended for the student to decide what they want to study. Your child may pick insects, architecture, geology, first aid & ancient Egypt and put it all in one journal and that's totally O.K! That's the beauty of Fun-schooling.
