2000s, 2010s, 2020s: Music From Artists Of All Ages

128 videos • 114 views • by Bobb-z Callahan Music history. Some of it very recent history. When I hear the radio station playing music from the 2000s, the 2010s, and the 2020s, I cannot help but think back on all of the songs that have been created in that time. For me, I am primarily focused on the music created in the 20th century. Yet, having grown up as a 90s Kid, I managed to hear a number of songs from young artists, middle-aged artists, older artists, and TV shows and films in the 21st century. If I'm going to be fully honest, I will admit that there have been a fair number of songs from the 21st century that I have enjoyed. As a 90s Kid, you remember certain times. You remember the techno beat, the special effects, the loud rock of the 2000s, and the hopeful patriotism that was in the air. You can hear these kinds of sounds in "Fireflies", "I Found A Way", and "I'm Proud To Be An American". You can hear the techno and loud rock in the 2000s where everyone tried to be glossy, cool, and slick without any rough edges. Going into the 2010s, you still heard the techno and loud rock. You could hear sampling in "Getting Ready For Christmas Day". You would also begin to hear a variety of styles as more people began to be hipsters featuring more of the rough edges. The FASHION trend and the ATTITUDE trend really changed in the 2010s and the music kind of reflected it. In the 2010s, you noticed a higher amount of appreciation for older actors and older musicians. You can see that when Lady Gaga and Tony Bennett recorded two albums of Great American Songbook standards together (something you would NEVER see in the 2000s). Perhaps there came a point where the younger artists felt like behaving a little more maturely in the 2010s. Going into the 2020s, it has been a gloomy decade so far. However, there have still been enough fun things and fun music to keep us going through these times. Really, throughout all of the 21st century, the techno and the loud rock have remained popular in every decade, especially from younger artists. Some of the music has been clean. Some of the music has been dirty (and that's probably why so many people will not touch any music of the 21st century). Yet, there is enough clean music in this century if you can find it and you can find it here. Since clean music is very important to me, that's what this playlist will be. What I find interesting are the three different age groups of musicians and just how they've approached making music in the 21st century. For the Younger Artists: the loud rock and techno beat remains the music style. For the Middle-Aged Artists: the older classic loud rock (or whatever style they had) remains the music style. For the Older Artists: you see one road of making softer music reflecting old age OR you see the other road of making loud, hip music with special effects in a way to still try and be young. In this playlist, you can hear the music from all three of these age groups. If anyone out there has listened to the radio over the last twenty years, you will probably know the hits included here from the younger artists. As for the middle-aged artists and the older ones, this might be a time of discovery (and I hope you enjoy the discovery). Most of the time, an artist will not have a radio hit after the age of 50 and the music they put out fails to attract younger listeners. The tragic possibility that a lot of wonderful music could be lost and forgotten. Yet, over the last ten years, there seems to be a number of people growing interested in the classic early albums of the older artists, along with an interest in the later music from the older artists. I see it, I hear it, and it really is a treat. When you think of Bob Dylan, Paul Simon, Judy Collins, and other musicians regaining their confidence in their later years. Also... the music from David Bowie, Johnny Cash, and others who knew they were at the end of their life and shared with us the final things they had to say. If it is possible, I hope that the later music from the older artists can gain a larger audience mainly due to the fact that there is a LOT of wonderful music that has been created in the 21st century from these people. A lot of WONDERFUL music that I hope will be remembered in the decades to come. Sharing the playlist here with music from the younger artists who made a number of hit songs that mean something to me. Finally, a note I should make: this is a CLEAN playlist and a majority of the playlist here are songs that have been WRITTEN in the 21st century. I do emphasize the word "written" since his playlist represents how the Artists Of All Ages have expressed their music style and their feelings in the 21st century. With the the world events and the journey of time for all of these musicians within this century. When you have the time and the interest, here is a playlist of music from the 2000s, 2010s, and 2020s. Mostly new music created from Artists Of All Ages in the 21st century.
