Singing is great for your mental health
1 videos • 2 views • by Nervous System Nut For as long as I can remember I have always loved to have a good sing. For the vast majority of my life this was confined either to the shower or solo car journeys. Not only did I suffer with a lack of confidence and self belief, I was also acutely aware of the millions of tone death people around the world that genuinely believed they could sing and if truth be told I just did it because it gave me a little boost. I did not know it at the time but, what I was doing was a form of self therapy. There are many health benefits attached to blasting out the lyrics to your favourite song no matter what standard you are at. For example, when we sing, hum or laugh, the vibrations stimulate our vagus nerve, which represents one of the main components of our parasympathetic nervous system, our rest and digest mode. This improves your mood, creates peace and calm and promotes homeostasis (complete balance). For an in-depth look at this please visit my Substack page where I have written a detailed article on the vagus nerve. https://naturalhealthnut.substack.com The other benefits associated with singing is it boosts your bodies natural levels of the endocannabinoid Anandamide by 40%. While many of you will have no idea what I am taking about, Anandamide is referred due to as the bliss molecule due to its involvement in every function and action related to your mood. In fact it’s now believed that the runners high experienced by millions of people around the world is in fact due to this same boost in Anandamide. Again for more information on Anandamide please visit my substack page https://naturalhealthnut.substack.com These days, if I am struggling, either with my focus, brain fog, energy or if I am feeling agitated, anxious or worked up, I take 5minutes, pop on my head phones and blast out a song or two on #smule and it completely resets me. If you are ever feeling down, or you are struggling to get going give it a try and see how it makes you feel. #mentalhealth #selfcare #sing #anxiety #anxietyrelief #therapy #naturaltherapies #naturaltherapy #mentalhealthawareness #ub40 #cover #coversong #coversongs #ivorymadonna
