Vainqueur de la Transat Jacques Vabre 2015 en Ocean Fifty, il fut élu deux fois marin de l’année en Italie. En 2020, il termine 8e du Vendée Globe, 19 heures après le vainqueur. Auteur de deux livres sur l’apprentissage de la voile en Italie, il a aussi publié un livre sur son Vendée Globe « L’anima nell’oceano ». Outre la voile, Giancarlo a créé deux initiatives tirées de ses savoirs : #CROSSSPORT (chaque sport apprend aux autres sports et à la vie de tous les jours) et #CROSSOCEAN (initiatives dédiées à la protection de l'Océan). ------ Giancarlo has a degree in philosophy.
