378 videos • 26,878 views • by SG rail adventure Started service: April 2017 Successor for my future NSEWL activites: Siemens C651 and Kawasaki Heavy Industries & Nippon Sharyo C751B trains (from 28 October 2024 onwards) August 2012: Kawasaki Heavy Industries & CRRC Qingdao Sifang awarded as the contract for the fifth generation trains. 2014 to 2017: 45 C151B trains procured to increase the capacity on the two heavily used MRT Lines. 16 April 2017: Debut operations, only one train in service as part of the NSL two months CBTC trial. These trains are only equipped with the Communication based train control (CBTC) signalling system. From May 2017: More new trains progressively starts revemue service as the CBTC commenced operations daily on the NSL. 16 June 2017: 4 new trains entered service as part of the Tuas West Extension open house, which is only equipped with the CBTC system. January 2018: Started service on the Tuas West Extension solely outside of the mainline due to the train collision incident in November 2017, trains turnaround at Joo Koon. May 2018: Offically started operations on the East West Line as the CBTC signalling system commence during revenue service hours. From 28 October 2024, this model to be my new successor model for the C651 and C751B trains for my future commutes and onboard activites.
