Share Cording Protocols Project 2014

10 videos • 3,164 views • by Breast Cancer Rehabilitation This project will help women across the world who have painful and limiting cording, secondary to their Breast Cancer treatment. Cording or Axillary Web Syndrome ( AWS) can occur as the breast cancer surgery "heals" and can occur many months after radiotherapy has finished. As yet we are not clear what the structures are exactly. But breast cancer rehabilitation therapists have been working hard to find physical treatments that will help women recover arm movement, lost through cording. This project will help to exchange these treatment ideas between experienced therapists. Also, one of the many barriers to receiving this kind of treatment, is the very low referral rate of women after breast cancer to specialized rehab services. This has mostly been attributed to the poor knowledge of rehab by staff within breast cancer medicine facilities. This project can be readily viewed by doctors, therapists and other health and well being practitioners who come into contact with these women will be able to see what is possible.with specialized treatment. Improved knowledge of services may help to increase referral of women who need this rehab, to a specialized service provider. Finally, this project will rely on those many individuals who care, to share this link. As new protocols are shared, they will be available at this same link location.
