Chapter 16 tells of Sarai’s impatience in waiting for God’s promise. She gives her servant Hagar to Abram as a wife, and Hagar becomes pregnant 🤰. Tensions arise, and Hagar runs away 🏃♀️, but an angel finds her, promising that her son Ishmael will also become the father of a great nation 🌍. In Chapter 17, God changes Abram’s name to Abraham, meaning “father of many nations,” and Sarai’s name to Sarah 👴👵. He establishes the covenant of circumcision ✂️ as a sign of this promise. God also promises that Sarah will bear a son, Isaac, despite their old age 👶. Chapter 18 shows three visitors (angels) arriving at Abraham’s tent 🏕️.
