Shozzo, at Windmill Hill Community Centre, Bristol, October 2021.
5 videos • 84 views • by Shaun McCrindle The aim of this performance was to capture a live recording of Shaun's song, 'The Salt Path'. Originally, Shaun was going to collaborate with the cameraman, Simon Snashall, and the actor Andrew Bone, to produce a short documentary video about the song and its origins, rooted in Raynor Winn's book of the same name. Unfortunately, that never happened but Simon's filming and the musicians' intimate performance (captured by producer Joe Valek) really gets 'inside' the song. The other songs in this playlist were 'out-takes' from the session. There was some time to play with after recording 'The Salt Path', so Shozzo recorded a couple of Shaun's old songs, 'Bristol Babes' (from the 2010 'solo' album, 'Come Around') and 'Lovelovelove' (from the 2017 Glass Angel album, 'In Dreams We Fly' - both available on Spotify). Finally, the trio improvised around an old folk tune John was playing on the bouzouki so watch out for that track in the future as it shapes up into a fully-feldged song.
