The Six Nations is a rugby tournament played every year between the top rugby union-playing countries in Europe. The six countries that take part are England, Scotland, Wales, Ireland, France and Italy. Wales are the reigning champions of the men's tournament and England lifted the women's trophy. For the first 90 years of the championships there were only five countries involved, but Italy were invited to take part in 2000. This is the 20th anniversary of the Six Nations (it was the Five Nations before that) and there are lot of changes to the teams this season, with first-time captains (Luca Bigi, Johnny Sexton, Stuart Hogg and Charles Ollivon) leading out the men's rugby teams for Italy, Ireland, Scotland and France. There are also four coaches entering their first men's Championship in charge. Wayne Pivac (Wales), Franco Smith (Italy), Fabien Galthié (France) and Andy Farrell (Ireland) will have the honour of steering their countries.
