1 videos • 78 views • by Tom Furdon From Albuquerque, New Mexico, Ryan embraces the sounds of the Southwest where he grew up. His country songwriting was influenced by country artists from Merle Haggard to Garth Brooks. His sound counters the typical Nashville country sound and is more rooted in the Red Dirt style of Texas Country. Ryan lived in Lubbock, Texas where he attended Texas Tech University and discovered artists such as the Turnpike Troubadours, Josh Abbott, William Clark Green, Jason Boland and many others who have heavily influenced his sound. Ryan frequently performs at bars, dance halls, breweries, state fairs, casinos and more across New Mexico and the Southwest. The full band is called Ryan Painter and the Resistors. Stephen Siegrist on bass guitar, Bud Melvin on pedal steel guitar, and Brian Burton on drums. Many other great New Mexico musicians have played and recorded with the band over the years. Their album The Resistors is available for download on all streaming platforms. They have been on several radio stations, and opened for touring acts such as William Clark Green, Jon Wolfe and others. Ryan writes all of his own music and throws in an occasional cover song. He recorded his first full album at Rio Grande Studios released in May 2019. Check out Ryan's website ryanpaintermusic.com
